Chhapaak First Look: Kangana’s Sister And Acid Attack Survivor Rangoli Praises Deepika Padukone
Kangana Ranaut’s sister Rangoli Chandel is quite active on social media. Just like her sister, Rangoli too doesn’t shy away from voicing her opinion on various trending topics. This morning, Deepika Padukone treated her fans with the first look of her character Malti from her forthcoming film Chhapaak, which is based on the real life story of acid attack survivor, Laxmi Agarwal.

While wishes and praises started pouring in from B-Townies for the actress, Rangoli, who’s also an acid attack survivor, took to social media and called Deepika and Meghna Gulzar’s picture “commendable”. In her tweet, she wrote, “No matter how unfair and unjust the world is we musn’t reflect what we hate, this is commendable on @deepikapadukone and @meghnagulzar part, being an acid attack survivor I pledge to be their biggest cheerleader #Chhapaak.”

While sharing the first look, Deepika also announced the release date of the film. In her caption, she wrote, “A character that will stay with me forever... #Malti. Shoot begins today #Chhapaak. Releasing 10th January, 2020."

Rangoli Chandel, an acid attack survivor herself, had revealed traumatising details about her own story. “Acid permeates into the skin if untreated. So immediate medical help can only control it. If it is stronger, it destroys your organs. I have lost one ear. I have lost 90% vision in one of my eyes. I have a dysfunctional breast. And all this is after I got the best possible treatment in the country. Acid attack is not a regular accident,” Rangoli recalled the incident.

She added, “When it happened, I was unable to breathe because my windpipe was shrinking. Scars were the last thing on my mind then. I didn't have the courage to face a mirror for three months. I was shaken up. My prerogative was struggling for my life because both my food and wind pipe were severely damaged. I was in the hospital for a month and I underwent multiple surgeries during that time. Everyday I was taken to the operation theatre for something or the other.”

Spilling beans on the process of getting a plastic surgery done, Rangoli said, “Plastic surgery is not so easy. It doesn't give you a new face. I had to get skin from thighs and get grafting done. It took 57 surgeries. The physical pain was excruciating and at 23 the mental trauma was painful. Kangana was a struggler back then but she brought me here. My parents couldn't bear seeing at me in that scene then.”
