Coolie No. 1, First Look: Varun Dhawan-Sara Ali Khan Starrer To Release On May 1, 2020
Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan took to social media and announced the release date of their upcoming film Coolie No. 1 with a picture of a porter's batch. Helmed by David Dhawan, the film will hit theatres in 2020
On May Day, Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan took to social media to announce the official release date of Coolie No. 1, which is going to be an adaptation of Govinda and Karisma Kapoor starrer. The film will be directed by Varun's father and filmmaker David Dhawan, who also helmed the original version of the flick. While the makers made the official announcement of the film on Varun’s birthday (April 24), yesterday, they revealed the first look along with its release date, May 1, 2020.
Taking to Twitter, the Judwaa 2 actor posted the picture of a coolie’s batch which read, “W. RLY No. 1 LICENSED PORTER”. Captioning it, he wrote, "Aaj ka Din , Agle Saal Aega Coolie No.1 - Hoga Kamaal !!! Coolie No.1 releases on May 1, 2020 #DavidDhawan #SaraAliKhan @vashubhagnani @poojafilms #1YearForCoolieNo1 #LabourDay"
Earlier, in a media interaction, Varun had revealed why he wanted to do the new version of Coolie No. 1. He had said, “Why I wanted to do this film is because when I watched Coolie No 1, I was so entertained. I had such a good time watching it. It is a family film. It is one of the funniest and most entertaining films I have ever watched. It has an amazing screenplay and starred brilliant actors. We are adapting it. It is not a remake.”
Dhawan Jr had further added, “I just want to try and bring that kind of fun back. That is why my father is also ready to do it. He has changed a lot of things. He has challenged himself also. He is the only one who knows the sur for this kind of film.”
