It was some days ago that Deepika Padukone invited her followers to be a part of her Instagram live session with WHO’s Tedros Adhanom. The two were slated to discuss the importance of mental health amid the COVID-19 crisis. However, this didn’t go down well with a section of the internet and Deepika Padukone was at the receiving end of criticism and hatred for the same. A few of them also demanded a ban on the actress and that they would stop watching her films if she goes ahead with the discussion.

Well, now, it looks like the Bajirao Mastani actress has changed her mind. Taking to her Instagram account, Deepika has stated that her live chat with the WHO Chief has been put on hold due to ‘highly unavoidable circumstances’. The note shared by Dippy read, “Hello everyone, I hope all of you are safe and staying indoors! I regret to inform you that due to unforeseen and highly unavoidable circumstances, the conversation ‘Prioritizing mental health during the pandemic and beyond’ between Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General, WHO and I, scheduled for 23rd April, 2020 has been put on hold until further notice.”

She added, “Having said that, mental health is a very real and valid aspect of this pandemic; one that I hope we prioritize and nurture through these unusual times and beyond. Much love, Deepika.”

The actress has also taken down the announcement post from her Twitter that read, “Prioritising mental health during the pandemic and beyond. Join Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General, WHO and I, as we discuss the importance of mental health during the #COVD19 pandemic and lessons we can learn for the future.” We wonder if this step has been taken in the wake of the entire backlash that Deepika received.
