Deepika Padukone Wanted Sanjay Leela Bhansali To Direct Her In Draupadi?
The director-actor duo Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone, together have delivered three blockbusters - Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. However, when Gangubai Kathiawadi was announced, everyone was pretty certain that the leggy lass actor will bag the role but it landed on Alia Bhatt’s lap which reportedly shocked Deepika. As per BollywoodHungama, this gave birth to a cold war. Now, the latest report suggests that Deepika Padukone is keen to bring Sanjay Leela Bhansali onboard to direct her Draupadi but there’s more to this story.

“The two bonded very well and for Deepika, Bhansali was like a mentor. When she announced the ambitious epic, Draupadi, it didn't have a director on board. Since the script followed a template from Indian history and mythology, Deepika felt, her close friend, Sanjay Leela Bhansali would be the best to direct. However, she was shocked when Bhansali politely refused the offer as he preferred on making his dream projects like Gangubai Kathiawadi and Baiju Bawra," a source told the same portal. Furthermore, with this denial, Deepika was then offered a special song in the Alia Bhatt starrer but she refused it. She was also offered a part in Heera Mandi, a web series by Bhansali, but she didn’t take it up either.

Speaking about the same, the source further stated that this is all temporary as they are thorough professionals. The source said that if SLB approaches DP with a script, she will come on board if she likes it. "Both are busy with their own work, which has probably resulted in cut off from conversations. But another collaboration will happen and this cold war will end. You never know, they might just come together on Baiju Bawra once Gangubai Kathiawadi is out of SLB's system,” the source further added.
