Dia Mirza Opens Up About The Existing Sexism In Industry; Admits Her Debut Film 'Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein Has Sexist Elements In It'
Dia Mirza is one of the most loved stars in Bollywood. She made her acting debut with Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein. Post her debut film, she went on to star in many films including Dus, Lage Raho Munnabhai and Sanju. The actress is known to speak her mind. She uses her social media platform to share her thoughts on various issues. The stunning actress recently opened up about being a part of sexism in the industry. She admitted that her debut film 'Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein' had sexism in it.

"People were writing, thinking and making sexist cinema and I was a part of these stories... Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein has sexism in it.. I was acting with these people. I was working with these people. It's crazy," said Dia. The actress further gave examples and said, "A makeup artist could only be a man, could not be a woman. A hairdresser only had to be a woman.. When I started working in films there were at best about four or five women on any given crew with a unit strength of over 120.. sometimes 180 people," she told Brut India.

The Sanju actress mentioned that we live in a patriarchal society and it is an industry largely led by men. "There is rampant sexism. And I think for a large part it is not even a conscious sexism because there are so many men who are writers, who are directors, who are actors, who are not even aware of their sexist thinking," said the actress.

On the personal front, Dia married Vaibhav Rekhi earlier this year. She later announced that they are expecting their first child. A section of people trolled the actress and questioned her about the timing of her pregnancy announcement. She silenced the trolls and clarified that they did not get married because they are having a baby.
