Deepika Padukone has never shied away from talking about her battle with depression. The actress runs a foundation, The Live Love Laugh Foundation, which helps people with battling depression. At an event in Delhi last week, the actress spoke about the issue, and during the talk, she seemed to have hit back at Salman Khan’s comment on depression.
It so happened that a month back at the TiE Global Summit (TGS) 2018, Salman had said, "I see a lot of people getting depressed and emotional, but I can't afford that luxury of being depressed or sad or emotional because no matter what I am going through, it works against me."
It seems Deepika, who has had a tough battle with depression, remembered this statement of Salman while speaking at the Delhi event. She said, "Depression is sometimes perceived as luxury... (But) It is important to break that myth."
Talking about depression in Bollywood, Deepika added, "When we were talking about more celebrities coming out and speaking and when we were talking about stigma, there is a lot of miscommunication that depression happens to people who are successful. I want to clarify that it can happen to anybody from any field."
