Did You Know Ajay Devgn’s Previous Name Was Vishal? Actor Reveals Real Reason To Change His Name Before Phool Aur Kaante Debut
Ajay Devgn in a previous interview revealed why he changed his real name before his Bollywood debut.
In a career spanning over three decades, Ajay Devgn made his debut with Phool Aur Kaante and the movie made him a star overnight. However, despite his on-screen wonders in the past years, fans still remember him for his entry scene as he did a split on two bikes.
With the onset of his career with the iconic scene, Ajay Devgn has not only delivered multiple hits but has also led two successful franchises – the Golmaal series and Singham.
But, did you know, Ajay Devgn might have made his acting debut under his real name, Vishal Devgan? Well, thanks to the competition in the early 90s, we were introduced to Ajay Devgn and not Vishal Devgn.
In a previous conversation with Open Magazine in 2009, Ajay said, “Back then, when I was being launched, there were three other Vishals debuting at the same time and I had no choice but to change my name to Ajay so I wasn’t lost in the crowd. My old friends still call me VD (yeah, I know it sounds weird) and I changed the spelling of my surname at the behest of my mother, Veena, who has asked me to do it for many years. It makes her happy.”
Today, Ajay Devgn completed 30-years in the industry and he has been receiving congratulatory messages from many friends in the industry. From Akshay Kumar to his wife Kajol, Amitabh Bachchan and Esha Deol, several stars wished him on social media.
Work-wise, Ajay has interesting projects in the pipeline including, MayDay, Gangubai Kathiawadi with Alia Bhatt, RRR, Thank God and Maidan. Recently, he was also confirmed to star in Golmaal 5 and Singham 3.
