Dilip Kumar Contracts Lung Infection Again, Still On Nasal Feed Only
Dilip Kumar is down with fever since Friday and the reason is that he has contracted an infection in his lungs, the same Aspiration Pneumonia he had in September which saw him being hospitalised in Lilavati Hospital for 2 weeks. The legend is being frequently attended by doctors, but is still at home (no hospitalisation advised so far)- but continues to be on nasal feed. Ever since he went home from Lilavati, Dilip saab has not been fed anything from mouth--- not even water. To keep his mouth moist if and when required, the family has been advised to use small pieces of ice. The Aspiration Pneumonia had been treated but a patch on the lungs had remained, it has now resurfaced.

The 95-year old legend cannot be given any food or water orally as it all tends to enters his lungs. Currently he is being administered even medicines only intravenously to treat his lung infection, and the other drugs to counter his age-related problems too are made to find their way in the same manner. Two nurses, who have had intensive care training and attended to him since a long time, are very much around 24 x 7, taking turns. Ditto for the 16-17 people staff who look after him.

Rewind: On September 5, Dilip saab felt  very uneasy and Saira got him admitted pronto. A tweet on his Twitter handle soon read: “Saab has been admitted to Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital as he was bit uneasy due to a chest infection. He’s recuperating. Requesting your duas and prayers. –FF.” SpotboyE.com had then EXCLUSIVELY found out that it was a case of Aspiration Pneumonia (a lung infection that happens because the material from the stomach and mouth enters the lungs. Signs and symptoms include cough and uneasiness accompanied by fever). Clearly, it's a case of Aspiration Pneumonia again.

Despite text messages (and calls) asking her for a quote on  Dilip saab's current infection and fever, Saira Banu did not reply.

We are extremely concerned about Dilip saab’s health and pray that he gets alright soon.
