DIVORCE PROCEEDINGS BEGIN: Malaika-Arbaaz Spotted At Family Court
Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora matched in white as they arrived at the Family Court in Bandra today to attend their first counselling session after filing for divorce earlier this month
Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora announced the death of their 19-year-long marriage when they filed for divorce earlier this month at the Bandra Family Court.
But ending a marriage is not an easy thing and now the estranged couple will have to go through six months of counselling sessions before the court will grant them a divorce.
According to reports, Malaika and Arbaaz have filed for dissolution of their marriage based on mutual consent. The couple has been allotted Court No 1 for further case proceedings under Principal Judge IJ Nanda.
The two got married in 1997, and have a son Arhaan who is 14 years old. Both of them, dressed in white, appeared for their first marriage counselling session today only to leave the court premises in a hurry.
As per law, after the filing of the divorce petition, the court gives the couple a period of 6 months to mull over reconciliation. If that doesn't happen, the court agrees to dissolve the marriage. This is the procedure being followed for this case as well.

Malaika and Arbaaz announced their separation in March this year, and soon Malaika moved out of the Khan residence into a separate apartment with her son.
The counselling session comes just days after Malaika had a run-in with estranged Dewar Salman Khan at a party thrown for Kareena Kapoor (If Looks Could Kill: Salman Khan And Malaika Arora Come Face To Face At Kareena's Baby Bash, Nov 28).
Salman had made his displeasure clear to Malaika at the bash. No wonder Malaika could not raise a smile!
