In a recent interview with Free Press Journal, lyricist and screenplay writer Manoj Muntashir for The Incarnation: Sita revealed that Kareena Kapoor Khan was not approached for the role of Sita. He revealed that Deepika Padukone was also not approached for the film. "We always wanted Kangana Ranaut to play the title role," said Manoj.
