Ever since the release of The Kashmir Files, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has been taking to social media to lash out at netizens who have been criticizing the movie. The self-proclaimed right-winged celebrity, whose movie won an award at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2023, was called out by media publications for confusing the audience. 

The director had taken to social media, to announce the good news. However, he left the netizens confused. He failed to mention that the movie was awarded at an award show hosted by a private organisation under the name of Dada Saheb Phalke and not the prestigious award which honours an individual for their contribution to Indian cinema. Well, it is safe to say that Agnihotri's mistake did not go down well with media publications that fact-check news.


As soon as Vivek tweeted about the win, articles were written about the same. Not only did the filmmaker lash out at the publications for essaying, but he also went all out on a social media war with journalist Mohammed Zubair, owner of ALT News, calling him names and threatening him. Slamming the fact-checkers, Vivek wrote, “Fact checking is the biggest extortion mafia today. Controlled by crazy, lunatic terror organisation.”

This is not the first time Vivek has gotten into a nasty battle on Twitter with anyone who speaks against his ideologies.

Talking about the movie, which caused an uproar in 2022, starred Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Mithun Chakraborty and many others in pivotal roles. The Kashmir Files narrated the story of Kashmiri Pandits in the valley in the 1990s. It went on to become one of the highest-grossing movies in Bollywood in 2022. On the work front, the director’s upcoming project is titled The Vaccine War.
