Rajkumar Hirani is all set to shoot some of the most pivotal scenes of Sanjay Dutt’s biopic starring Ranbir Kapoor. We are talking about the years Sanjay spent behind bars.

And none other than Farhan Akhtar may reportedly come to his aid. Farhan already has a realistic set of a huge prison erected in Film City for the shoot of Lucknow Central, a musical based in a jail, which also features Diana Penty and Ronit Roy.

Those who saw Farhan’s set were impressed by its real-life details. And soon word got to Rajkumar Hirani.

Hirani is busy shooting the biopic which has an ensemble cast comprising Dia Mirza as Sanjay’s wife Maanayata, Manisha Koirala as Nargis Dutt, Sonam Kapoor as Sanjay’s earlier love interest and Vicky Kaushal as his best friend.

The film is slated to release in 2017, so Hirani has no time to spare. Ranbir Kapoor recently visited Sanjay Dutt to keep him posted about the development of his character in the film. He also wanted some insight into his time in prison so that he could tackle the upcoming emotional scenes.

While Ranbir was busy with that, Hirani was busy scouting for a prison set-up to shoot crucial sequences set in the Pune Yerwada Jail according to the report.

So, Lucknow Central’s jail sets in Film City that occupy over two acres of land, may now also double up as a setting for Ranbir’s reel life incarceration.
