Filmfare Awards REACT After Kangana Ranaut Threatened To SUE Them, Magazine Withdraws The Actress’ Nomination And Calls Her Accusations 'False'
Filmfare Awards have finally reacted after Kangana Ranaut decided to sue the magazine for nominating her in the Best Actress category for 'Thalaivii.' In a long statement, the magazine called Ranaut’s accusations ‘false’ and explained that their invitation to her was their effort to “bring together everyone in a collective celebration of what brings this nation together i.e. Indian Cinema”. However, Filmfare Awards have now revoked Kangana’s nomination in their upcoming award show.

In a statement shared on their Instagram handle, the leading entertainment magazine said, “As is customary during the awards, Filmfare’s Executive Editor informed Ms. Ranaut about her nomination in the Best Actor in a Leading Role, Female category and asked for her address to send across the invitation.” They also posted an excerpt from their message sent to Kangana on social media. Their long statement added, “This is a patently false accusation being made by Ms Ranaut. Our invitation to her was our effort in bringing together everyone in a collective celebration of what brings this nation together, i.e. Indian Cinema. Filmfare Awards are a celebration of cinematic excellence and are awarded irrespective of the fact that a nominee attends or performs at the function. Further, Ms. Ranaut a 5-time Filmfare Awardee, was given the award twice in absentia (2014 & 2015). Despite knowing that she would neither attend nor perform.” ALSO READ: Kangana Ranaut To SUE Filmfare Awards Magazine For Nominating Her For Thalaivii; 'It Is Beneath My Dignity, I Have Banned Corrupt Practices’

This year, the 35-year-old actress was nominated in the Best Actress category for Thalaivii along with actors Kiara Advani, Kriti Sanon, Parineeti Chopra, Taapsee Pannu, and Vidya Balan.
