Just as the government announced that the theaters in Mumbai will reopen from 22 October, actors and filmmakers are rushing to announce the release date of their much awaited films which had been stuck due to the ongoing pandemic. Here's the list of all the films releasing from October till the end of 2022.
Recently, a lot of filmmakers decided to release the film on the big screen including 'Bell Bottom', 'Thalaivii', and others. These films were only released in the regions where the protocols and norms were loosened and allowed for theatrical release. However, on 25th September the CM of Maharashtra announced the re-opening of cinema halls from 22nd October while observing all COVID safety protocols. This news has brought a big smile to the filmmaker, actors & distributors face and on the next day itself and hence the release dates of the most awaited films have been announced.
So here's the complete list of the films along with their release dates.
Sooryavanshi Diwali 2021
Rohit Shetty's most awaited 4th edition of his cop universe 'Sooryavanshi' is finally releasing this Diwali. Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer film was already set to release long back ago, but due to the covid norms, the release date was on hold. But now, the wait is over and the most trended film is finally releasing this Diwali on big screens.
Bunty Aur Babli 2: 19 November 2021
YRF officially announces the release date of 'Bunty Aur Babli 2' the sequel to 2005's super hit blockbuster 'Bunty Aur Babli'. The film holds an outstanding cast including Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Sharvari Wagh. It is slated to release on 19th November 2021.
Stayameva Jayate 2: 26 November 2021
Directed by Milap Zaveri, produced by T-Series and distribution by AA Films Stayameva Jayate is based on the fight against injustice and misuse of power, it is an official spiritual sequel of the 2018 film Satyameva Jayate and stars John Abraham in a double role alongside Divya Khosla Kumar, Rajeev Pillai, and Anup Soni in important characters. As of April 2021, the release date of the film has been postponed due to a rise in COVID-19 cases. The film is scheduled to release on 26 November 2021
Tadap : 3 December 2021
Suniel Shetty's son Ahan Shetty's debut film 'Tadap' has finally got its release date. The film will be releasing on 3rd December 2021 in theatres. 'Tadap' is the remake of the Telugu film 'RX100' which is acclaimed to be an “incredible love story”. Along with Ahan Shetty, Tara Sutaria will be also seen in the film as his love interest.
Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui : 10th December
Ayushmann Khurrana's 'Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui' is confirmed to release on 10th December in cinema halls. The film is directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the story is simply lined on a modern age love story. Vaani Kapoor will be also seen in the film along with Ayushmann. Well, reportedly it is been said that Vaani will be seen playing a transgender character in the film.
83 The Film 25th December 2021
After a lot of postponing and delays, Ranveer Singh's '83 The Film' has finally slated its confirmed release date. Ranveer Singh took his social media to announce the release date of '83 The Film' He wrote "It’s time……….. 83 IN CINEMAS THIS CHRISTMAS. Releasing in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.”
Great cricketer Kapil Dev's biopic '83 The Film' directed by Kabir Khan holds a huge cast including Pankaj Tripathi, Ammy Virk, Harrdy Sandhu, Saqib Saleem, Boman Irani, and many more.
Jersey 31st December 2022
Shahid Kapoor starer 'Jersey' has finally got its confirmed release date after several postpones. 'Jersey' will be releasing on 31st December 2021 in theatres. The Kabir Singh actor will be seen playing a sports player character, Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur will be also seen in pivotal roles in the film.
Prithviraj : 21st Jan 2022
Well, 2022 seems to be a grand year for Akshay Kumar, as his 5 films are slated to be released in 2022. 'Prithviraj' is one of those five films. The historical drama starring Akshay Kumar and debutant actress Miss World Manushi Chhillar will be releasing on 21st January 2022. The film is been directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi and the film also stars Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood in pivotal roles.
Laal Singh Chadda :14th Feb 2022
Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan Starrer 'Laal Singh Chadda' release date has been postponed from Christmas to valentines day. The makers took their social media handle to announce the news "We welcome the decision of the administration to allow cinemas to re-open from October 22. Due to the delays faced as a result of the pandemic, we will be unable to release our film, Laal Singh Chaddha, this Christmas. We will now be releasing Laal Singh Chaddha on Valentine's Day 2022," the statement from Aamir Khan Productions.
Jayeshbhai Jordaar: 25th Feb 2022
YRF has finally announced the release date for its social comedy genre film 'Jayeshbhai Jordaar'. The film is set to be released on 25th February 2022 in cinema halls. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Shalini Pandey, Boman Irani, and others.
BachchanPandey : 04th March 2022
Akshay Kumar another hyped film 'Bachchan Pandey' now has a release date. The action comedy film including Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandez, Arshad Warsi, and Pankaj Tripathi along with Akshay will be now releasing on 4th March 2022.
Shamshera: 18th March 2022
YRF announced 3 biggies' release date on 26th September, and one of those is Ranbir Kapoor's 'Shamshera'. 'Shamshera' is being called an “adrenaline-pumping entertainer”, which is set to release on March 18, 2022. Along with Ranbir, Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt will be also seen in the film.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2: 25th March 2022
Horror comedy film 'Bhul Bhulaiyaa's sequel 'Bhul Bhulaiyaa 2' starring Kartik Aaryan is already in the headlines since long back due to Akshay Kumar and Kartik Aaryan's fan clash. The highly anticipated and much-awaited horror-comedy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 will now release on March 25, 2022. The film also stars Kiara Advani and Tabu in pivotal roles.
Rocketry: 1 April 2022
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect is an Indian biographical drama film based on the life of Nambi Narayanan, a former scientist and aerospace engineer of the Indian Space Research Organization who was accused of espionage. The film is written, produced, and directed by Madhavan in his directorial debut, who also stars along with Simran. The makers finally announced that the film will release next year on 1 April 2022.
MayDay - 29th April 2022
Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, and Rakul Preet Singh starrer 'MayDay' will be releasing on 29th April 2022. Ajay Devgn took his social media to announce the news. He wrote "Ah, at last, the news of cinema theatres opening in October, in Maharashtra, is long-awaited and terrific. As promised earlier, the aviation-thriller drama, produced & directed by me, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh & Me in the lead, will release on 29th April 2022. @amitabhbachchan @rakulpreet #MayDay."
Heropanti 2 - 06th May 2022
Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria's 'Heropanti 2' is slated to be released on May 6, 2022. The film is a sequel to Tiger Shroff's 'Heropanti' in 2014 under the same production house Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.
Raksha Bandhan - 11th Aug 2022
Aanand L Rai's directorial 'Raksha Bandhan starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar will be releasing on 11th August 2022. The film is written by Himanshu Sharma and Kanika Dillon and produced by Colour Yellow Production in association with Cape of Good Films.
Adhipurush – 11th August 2022
The film is directed by Om Raut, produced by T-Series Films and Retrophiles. Shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi languages, Adipurush stars Prabhas as Adipurush, Kriti Sanon as Sita, and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh. A 3D film, Adipurush is one of the most expensive Indian films ever made and is all set to hit the theaters on Independence Day week, i.e 11 August 2022.
Ram Setu - Diwali 2022
Akshay Kumar's last film for 2022 'Ram Setu' will be released during Diwali 2022. Along with Akshay, Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushratt Bharucha will be also starring in this film and it is directed by Abhishek Sharma.
Ganpath: 23rd December 2022
Last but not least, Tiger Shroff Kriti Sanon’s action thriller Ganpath to hit the theaters and make a big dhamaka on 23 December 2022. The film is an action-packed thriller helmed by director Vikas Bahl and produced by Jackky Bhagnani. It is set in a post-pandemic, dystopian era and will portray a never-seen-before world.
