Karan Johar and Gauri Shinde

Director Gauri Shinde spoke to Mid-Day, and talked about the commercial starring Karan Johar. She said that they wanted the commercial to be light-hearted, and not a mockery of something that has had a stigma attached to it for so long. “We wanted to portray the same-sex love story or coming out of the closet in the most natural yet heartwarming way. We think it is an out-of-the-box idea in the advertising space,” she said.
