Ghayal Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi Admitted to Hospital, Undergoes Angioplasty
Rajkumar Santoshi was admitted to Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle, Mumbai, earlier in the day today. The filmmaker was reportedly facing difficulty in breathing, and extreme discomfort. When he was brought in to the hospital, the doctors, after conducting preliminary tests, decided that an angioplasty surgery was urgent. As per a hospital official we spoke to, the surgery has now been completed successfully.

Santoshi is best known for hard-hitting, critically acclaimed films such as Ghayal, Damini and Khakee, and popuar comic capers like Andaz Apna Apna and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani. In recent years, however, his fortunes have not been as bright. His last directorial release, Shahid-starrer Phataa Poster Niklaa Hero,, did not make any impact at the box office. A project that Santoshi had planned with Salman Khan was cancelled because of reported creative differences between the two. Ajay Devgn too had reportedly returned a signing amount for a film that he and the director were due to make together.

Most recently though, Santoshi has been reported to have signed a film with producer-director Aanand L Rai.

Santoshi is currently under observation. We wish the filmmaker a speedy recovery.
