Abhishek Bachchan is back with a bang. After staying away
from movies for over 2 years, he came back with a dhamakedaar performance in
Manmarziyaan. The film did decent business at the box-office and every performance was praised. And Abhishek got the lion's share of the
applause for his portrayal of an Amritsar-born cut Surd, who lives in London,
but is back to his hometown to get hitched to a girl selected by his parents.
But did you know that he wasn't the first choice to play the role?
Yes, you read that right. Abhishek was brought in quite late for the film. Not just him, even Taapsee Pannu came in later. The original lead pair had already shot for quite sometime before the movie got shelved and then, not only them, even the director was changed. Any guesses who was to play Abhishek's character before?
Bhumi Pednekar And Ayushmann Khurrana
Well, it was none other than Ayushmann Khurrana. The Vicky Donor actor was to romance Bhumi Pednekar, and the two had shot for the film with then director Sameer Sharma. Reportedly, the portions shot by Sameer weren't quite liked by producer Aanand L Rai, who was on a different page than the director. Finally the movie was shelved.
Almost a year or so later, Anurag Kashyap was brought on board for the movie as director and he reworked the screenplay along with writer Kanika Dhillon. Soon enough, the project was given a green light again. However, with a new cast now. After a lot of names being discussed in the media, it was finally Abhishek who bagged the lead role with Taapsee as his lady love. However, Vicky Kaushal was always there to play the character of DJ Sand.
