Sanjay Dutt turns 60 years old today and on this occasion, his old friend Mahesh Bhatt penned down a heartfelt letter for him. Mahesh Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt’s friendship goes way back and they worked together for their first film Naam in 1986. Since then, their journey together continued in films like Kabzaa and Sadak. Now, almost two decades later, the duo will reunite in Sadak 2 and will mark Mahesh Bhatt’s comeback as a director after 20 long years.
In the letter that was published by Mumbai Mirror, Mahesh Bhatt writes to Sanjay Datt and begins by quoting a Japanese filmmaker and says that having shot with Dutt for Sadak 2 after being away from the director’s chair for 20 years, he feels like the actor has entered his phase of second babyhood. He further adds, “Today, the footprints of time, and real-life experiences are visible on your gorgeous face like never before. Your life proves that it is by suffering, and suffering alone, that one ceases to be just a mere acting machine. The periods of solitude that you have experienced in prison, face to face with suffering, have woken you up to deep love, compassion and understanding.”
The filmmaker concludes the letter by saying that autumn is just another spring, and signs off as by writing, “In this industry where there are no second acts you have proved time and again to the world that has always been too keen to write your obituary, that you have the ability to re-invent yourself. How lovely it is to reconnect with you in the ‘autumn years’ of our lives, Sanju. But as the wise say: Autumn is just another spring.”
The note is filled with such deep fondness for Sanjay Dutt and takes us back to the old times! Meanwhile, Sadak 2 will see Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur in lead roles and Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt will be seen in important roles.
