Anil Kapoor’s son Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor, who made his Bollywood debut with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Mirzya, has been proving his mettle as an actor with every film he does. While Harsh prefers to stay away from the spotlight, in a recent interview, he poured his heart out. From talking about his changed approach to interviews, how being Anil Kapoor’s son worked against his image, his insecurities to battling lows and failures, the actor talked about many things.
While speaking with Bollywood Bubble, Harsh revealed that the producers asked him to 'sound dumb' in interviews. He recalled that after his debut film Mirzya, he always had his “guard up a little bit”. But before that, he was transparent and 'very honest'.
“After Mirzya, I feel, I always had my guard up a little bit. I was very open to talk and transparent and be very honest and sit down and have a normal chat. But after Mirzya I realised that I have to be a little conscious to what I say. When I sit down for an interview, I like to be honest but it’s up to the person on the other end of the interview to be able to say that ‘this guy is being honest and coming from a good place, he is confiding in me, so I also need to take care of him,” said Harsh Varrdhan in the interview.
Adding to this, the Ray actor said, since he was doing the off-beat cinema, and people have so much love for Anil Kapoor, that they expect that you have to be a certain way. "As soon as you are different and embrace that individuality, it does not get accepted right away." He feels it would be naive to think that.
“Some producers told me that I need to sound dumb in my interviews. They told me that I come across as too intelligent and I am going to alienate the audience,” he added.
Meanwhile, Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor will next be seen in the biopic of shooter Abhinav Bindra, directed by Kannan Iyer. Also Read: Shanaya Kapoor Faces Backlash For 'Not Being Natural And Overacting' In Latest Ad; Netizens Say, 'Why Is She So Ananya'
