Has KJo Given The Ropes Of The Hindi Remake Of Sairat To Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania Director?
SpotboyE.com had told you that Karan Johar might surprise you with a third name, other than Karan Malhotra and Abhishek Varman, to direct the Hindi remake of Sairat.

Seems, he has indeed had a change of mind.

Sources now say that Karan wants Shashank Khaitan, who directed Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania for him, to captain the film in question.

Khaitan had joined Whistling woods (a film institute started and supported by senior filmmaker Subhash Ghai) to break into the movie industry. While at Whistling Woods, he worked on his first attempted movie, Sherwani Kahaan Hai, with some of his fellow students, but the movie was not successfully completed. In 2008, he starred as Manohar in Roorkee By-Pass, a 22-minute drama directed by Arundhati Sen Verma and then went on to assist on the sets of Ghai's Black & White--- before Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania starring Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt happened. Currently, he is engaged in completing Badrinath Ki Dulhania (with Varun & Alia again); although the two films have different plots and characters, Badrinath Ki Dulhania is considered the second installment in a franchise that began with Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania.

Sairat, a romance set in a caste heartland of rural Maharashtra became one of the biggest hits of 2016. The film starring newcomers, Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar, was also the first Marathi film to join the 100 crore club.

It will be interesting to see what Karan Malhotra does next for Dharma Productions. Malhotra has a mixed resume. On one hand he helmed the superhit Hrithik Roshan-Sanjay Dutt starrer Agneepath but his next, the sports drama Brothers with Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra failed to live up to expectations. Then there was the much-delayed Shuddhi he was supposed to helm, a project with a revolving door of cast members including Hrithik Roshan and Salman Khan, which failed to take off.

Abhishek Varman, on the other hand, is one film old but he delivered a hit with his very first attempt. Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor starrer 2 States won hearts and numbers at the box-office.
