Janhvi Kapoor is all set to play the lead in the Hindi remake of the 2019 survival story Helen about a bright endearing young girl, the apple of her father’s eye, who gets accidentally locked in the freezer of a mall. The original film in Malayalam directed by Mathukutty Xavier was a big hit. It is now being remade into Hindi with Janhvi Kapoor playing Helen. Anna Ben who played the lead in the original Malayalam film was hugely applauded. Veteran actor Lal who played the other all-important role of Helen’s father was also lauded for his performance.
The role of the father in the Hindi remake has now gone to the versatile Manoj Pawa. Apparently, director Mathukutty Xavier did consider Janhvi’s real-life father Boney(who produces the Hindi remake of Helen) to play her father in the film. But discarded the idea as being too gimmicky. Last month, we reported that for her role, Janhvi Kapoor will spend time in isolation and experience first-hand the trauma of being placed in freezing temperatures.
Janhvi Kapoor’s father and producer Boney Kapoor said that it would be a challenge for Janhvi Kapoor to be doing a survivalist drama early on in her career. He said that Janhvi would have to work really hard to convince the audience, and that if she looks fake doing it, the audience will reject the film.
