As soon as we entered in the month of July, director Priyadarshan, who is known for his comedy movies, gave us a glimpse of his return to Hindi cinema after eight years. The filmmaker unveiled the trailer of his upcoming comedy, Hungama 2, which is a spiritual successor to his 2003 comedy by the same name. The sequel features Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Meezaan, Pranitha Subhash and Paresh Rawal in the lead, and will be releasing on July 23 on Disney+ Hotstar.
The film also features veteran comedic actors like Rajpal Yadav, Johnny Lever and Tiku Talsania, and also marks Shilpa’s return to acting in films after her last acting appearance in the 2007 film Apne. For Meezaan, it marks his first collaboration with Priyadarshan while for Pranitha, it marks her Hindi film debut, which was earlier supposed to happen with Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt and Sonakshi Sinha’s Bhuj: The Pride Of India.
Ask the debutante, Pranitha, about who was the most fun person on set and pat comes the reply, “The most fun person on set has to be Paresh ji. While you are completely unaware, he is just sitting there and doling out one liners, and they are super funny. I don’t even know how he does that.”
Hungama 2’s trailer has the trademark comedy in chaos, that has become synonymous with Priyadarshan’s films. The filmmaker’s collaboration with Paresh goes years back. They have given some amazing comic treasures like the cult classic Hera Pheri, Hungama, Hulchul, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, Chup Chup Ke, Bhool Bhulaiyya and De Dana Dan amongst others.
