Imran Khan Opens Up About His Mental Health Struggles; Actor Recalls, ‘Felt Damaged On The Inside, And I Wanted To Fix That’
Bollywood actor and filmmaker Imran Khan is known for keeping his personal life private. It’s been quite a few years since the actor quit the Hindi entertainment industry and maintained a low-profile life. Recently he started taking to his official social media handles to talk about his old projects and every experience he has had. In September 2023, he took to Instagram to share a shocking post about how he dealt with mental health issues and even attempted to harm himself, despite being loved and adored by his fans.

Now, in a recent interview with Vogue India, he spoke about his mental health struggles, after he decided to quit Bollywood post the release of Katti Batti in 2015. While reports stated that he decided to quit the film industry because of multiple box-office failures, he stated that it was due to his emotional and mental struggles. He revealed that he “couldn’t be bothered to invest the time, energy, and effort required to stay in this profession.” ALSO READ: DID YOU KNOW? The 41-year-old actor went on to express that couldn’t go out to socialize with people in hopes of getting movie offers as he felt damaged on the inside. He wanted to fix it which led to him seeking therapy. Quoted by Pinkvilla, Imran said, “I felt damaged on the inside, and I wanted to fix that. If you pull a hamstring, you go to the physiotherapist. Since seeking therapy was a defining decision of his life, he went on to state that he scheduled appointments with his therapist four times a week in the past seven years. Stating that he started his journey in 2017, Khan added, “If you speak to someone who has given up an addiction or gone off alcohol, they could tell you the exact number of days they’ve been sober. It’s the same for me with my mental health. It’s been 2,500 days since I started my analysis on March 13, 2017.”

On the work front, Imran has acted in credible movies like Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Delhi Belly, I Hate Love Stories, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu. Last seen as an actor in Katti Batti alongside Kangana Ranaut, he made his directorial debut in 2018 with the short film Mission Mars: Keep Walking India. Fans have been eagerly waiting for him to mark his acting comeback soon.
