The Income Tax Department has carried out raids at the properties of filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, and Bollywood actor Taapsee Pannu, according to a report in ANI. The news agency tweeted, “Income Tax raids underway at the properties of film director Anurag Kashyap and actor Taapsee Pannu in Mumbai: Income Tax Department.” Apart from this, Hindustan Times also reported that the search has also been carried out at Vikas Bahl, Madhu Mantena’s properties.
The Hindustan Times report states that the search conducted is in connection with the Indian film production and distribution company Phantom Films, which was established by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, Madhu Mantena, Vikas Bahl in 2011, but was later dissolved in 2018. According to the report in HT, charges of tax evasion had been brought against Phantom Films, and searches have been conducted since Wednesday morning, at the offices of the agencies and the residences of the people associated with it.
