Sung by Divya Kumar and Sachin-Jigar, this song is penned by Javed Akhtar and composed by Sachin – Jigar. This is one of the latest songs to have come out and it's going to be played for years to come. The feeling of desh bhakti comes out fantastically in this song, and we love it.

Chak De India (Chak De India, 2007)


Sung by Sukhwinder Singh and penned by Jaideep Sahni, this song was composed by Salim -Suleiman. It brings forth the spirit of freedom and the need to make India proud on foreign shores. Definitely gives everyone gossebumps.

Kandhi Se Milte Hai Kandhe (Lakshya, 2005)


Sung by Kunal Ganjawala, Sonu Nigam, Roop Kumar Rathod, Vijay Prakash, Hariharan and Shankar Mahadevan, this one was penned by Javed Akhtar. The tune was composed by the trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. It's not one of the most common songs to be played on Independence Day, but it sure brings forth the feeling of patriotism in every Indian.

Yeh Jo Des Hai Tera (Swades, 2004)


Sung and composed by AR Rahman, the lyrics were courtesy Javed Akhtar. It is one of the most popular songs which gets played every passing year on this day.

Sandese Aate Hai (Border, 1997)


Sung by Sonu Nigam and Roop Kumar Rathod on Anu Malik's composition and Javed Akhtar's lyrics. This song can't ever be deleted from our memory. This song makes us teary eyed everytime thinking about what our soldiers sacrifice in order to protect us from the enemy.
