Unfortunately, today, Irrfan Khan is no more between us after he lost his battle with Neuroendocrine Tumor, leaving his fans and media fraternity in complete shock and grief. But his remarkable work in the film industry will live on for ages. The actor delivered several critically-acclaimed performances in films as diverse as Haider and Madaari while also making us fall for him in Angrezi Medium, Hindu Medium, The Lunchbox, Piku and many more.

Despite the fact that he never became the quintessential 'hero' in the films, but the kind of roles he played were a breath of fresh air and always proved his acting mettle. He started his filmy career from becoming a villain and ended his journey as a hero and well, his heroic journey and fight against the cancer is surely commendable. We know it is impossible to choose top 5 movies or top 10 from his incredible collection of movies but as a tribute, here are some of his best films which brought out the best in him, despite knowing some might agree with this list and some might not.

Piku: The actor starred opposite Amitabh Bachchan and Deepika Padukone and this has to be one of the most memorable films of Irrfan’s career where he played the patient and resourceful businessman Rana Chaudhary.

Hindi Medium and Angrezi Medium: Who can ever forget this middle-class man from the film? A man who would go to any length to get his daughter admission to a decent school in Delhi has become our favourite. Similarly, we saw a heartwarming and caring father in Homi Adajania’s film as well.

The Lunchbox: The film was packed with love, friendship and warmth. Despite playing a subdued character, Irrfan was a treat to watch. This film was showered with several awards and acclaim including a BAFTA Award nomination.

Life Of Pi: Apart from the miraculous storytelling and the epic visualization, Life Of Pi is also known for one more thing and that's Irrfan Khan. His narrative and role compelled everyone to pour in some love and appreciation

Paan Singh Tomar: After seeing him in this role, one word that will definitely come out for him is 'marvellous'. Fans were stunned to see him playing the role of an athlete.

Blackmail: Irrfan’s comic timing is bang on and this movie is proof. The actor who found his wife has an affair with her boyfriend and how he blackmails her boyfriend for money is a must-watch film.

Maqbool: It was no regular phenomenon to see an actor winning hearts with his devilish character but Irrfan Khan made the audience fall in love with him in Maqbool. No actor could have done it better the way he did in the film.

The Namesake: Irrfan’s sensitive portrayal of a loving Bengali husband and father is simply heart-touching. Even though it wasn't a commercial success, his character will also be etched in our minds and hearts.

Slumdog Millionaire: He played the role of a morally ambiguous cop interrogating the lead actor Dev Patel. Despite not have a meaty role, his strong gaze and intense voice were enough to steal all the limelight.

Also, not forget his terrific roles in Madaari, Inferno, Jurrasic Park and many more. He is a legend for sure.
May his soul rest in peace.
