Shahid Kapoor’s younger brother, Ishaan Khatter, debuted in Bollywood with Beyond the Clouds. He went on to star opposite Janhvi Kapoor in Karan Johar and Shashank Khaitan's Dhadak. Though there had been no formal announcement, however, it was widely known that Ishaan’s next would be with ace filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj who has earlier worked with Ishaan’s brother Shahid in Rangoon, Haider and Kaminey.

Vishal had wanted Ishaan to essay the role of Saleem Sinai in an adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children. There was buzz that the said film was being produced and directed by Vishal himself. Reports also suggested that Ishaan let go of Mira Nair’s upcoming film to work with Vishal Bhardwaj.



A report in Mumbai Mirror suggests that Ishaan will not be a part of Bhardwaj’s film due to growing creative differences between the two. “The duo have amicably parted ways over growing creative differences. Which again leaves Ishaan without a project in hand. Meanwhile, we have heard that Vishal is now going to launch a newcomer in the role,” reads the report.

Meanwhile, Ishaan had turned out Mira Nair’s screen adaptation of Vikram Seth’s popular work, A Suitable Boy, to be a part of Vishal’s film. So it’s not as if he hasn’t had good projects come his way. But yet, he’s still to sign his next big project, while his Dhadak co-star Janhvi has her kitty brimming with films like Kargill Girl, RoohiAfza, Takht and now Dostana 2. Yesterday when Karan Johar formally announced Dostana 2, he revealed that Sridevi’s daughter, Janhvi and Kartik Aaryan would be playing the lead in the much-anticipated sequel alongwith another ‘suitable boy.’
