It's Official: Kiara Advani To Romance Akshay Kumar In Kanchana Remake
Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani have been roped in as the lead cast for the Bollywood remake of Tamil hit, Muni 2: Kanchana (2011). Proudcer confirms the development
Speculations were rife that Made In Heaven actress Sobhita Dhulipala will romance Akshay Kumar in the Hindi remake of Tamil hit, Muni 2: Kanchana (2011) but later reports of Kiara Advani to romance the superstar started doing the rounds.
And now the producer of the film Shabina Khan has confirmed to Mid-day that Kiara has been roped in as the leading lady. Yes, you heard that right! The makers have roped in Akshay and Kiara for the remake of Tamil horror flick. Confirming the same, producer said, "Yes, we have signed Kiara for the Kanchana remake."
Let us tell you, the film has tentatively been titled as Laxmi and the film will go on floors by mid-April and is likely to be shot in a start-to-finish schedule.
A source close to the makers told the tabloid, “While Akshay plays the protagonist who gets possessed by the spirit of a transgender, Kiara will portray the superstar's girlfriend in the movie. Although the female lead did not have a significant role in the original version, Kiara will enjoy a substantial part in the adaptation. The script too has been tweaked to suit the sensibilities of the Hindi film audience."
The report further states, “Producers Shabina Khan and Tusshar Kapoor picked up the remake rights last year, following which the scripting team has been hard at work to give it a North Indian flavour. Lawrence will helm the Hindi offering.”

Apart from Kanchana 2, Kiara and Akshay will also be seen in Karan Johar’s Good News co-starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Diljit Dosanjh. The actress had recently posted a picture of ‘awesome foursome’ from the sets of the film.
