Drive, a film produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma productions starring Jacqueline Fernandez and Sushant Singh Rajput will finally see the light of the day. KJo recently made the announcement that the film will be released on Netflix. One wonders why though! Drive was supposed to hit the theatres in June but that did not happen. And now, it will not be screened in theatres but will make it to the popular OTT platform Netflix. This move by Karan has got everyone talking!

Drive is one ambitious project that boosts of high-octane stunts and cars racing. The first look of this film was shared in March 2017. Since then it has been in the making and has gone multiple delays. Later it was announced that Drive will release on June 28, 2019, almost two years after its announcement. Even that did not happen. Now, Karan has shared on his Instagram that the film will be released on Netflix. He wrote, “Shifting into high gear with #Drive! Coming onto your #Netflix screens soon.”


Even Jacqueline Fernandez took to her Instagram and made the announcement.


It will be Karan Johar’s first original to be release on an OTT Platform. While sharing the announcement of his collaboration with Netflix, Karan had said, “Our vision for Drive was to make a film that elevates the genre of action-heist films. With nail-biting chases and action sequences, fronted by a spectacular cast, Drive combines the best of Bollywood storytelling with international production quality. I’m thrilled to partner Netflix once again in bringing this incredibly fun film to millions of fans of the action genre around the world,” as reported by LiveMint. 

Drive is directed by Tarun Mansukhani and it also stars Boman Irani, Pankaj Tripathi, Vibha Chhibber, Sapna Pabbi and Vikramjeet Virk apart from Jacqueline and Sushant.
