Bollywood veteran actress Jaya Bachchan has never shied away from expressing herself in front of the media. Oftentimes her blunt answers and stern behaviour comes across as rude. As she awaits the release of her movie Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, an old video of hers has resurfaced the internet. She is seen gracing the sets of Koffee With Karan, where she heaps praises on Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's stand behind personality. It is safe to say her views on her daughter-in-law's personality have not gone down well with the netizens.
In the video that was posted on Instagram in May, the 75-year-old actress speaks about Aishwarya’s stardom and how she is gelling well with the family. She says, “I love her. I have always loved her. I have never ever seen her push herself whenever we are all together. I like that quality of hers to stand behind. She is quiet. She listens and she is taking it all in. And another beautiful thing is that she has fitted in so well in the family. Netizens were quick to take to the comments section of the post and bash the veteran. They called her out for being a ‘typical mother-in-law’ with a regressive thought process. One said, “Itne rich hoke bhi gawar k gawar.” Another said, “The perfect definition of the perfect daughter-in-law for Indian families. If Aishwarya Rai stood no chance, imagine everyone else.” Other one said, “women are the biggest forebearers of patriarchy and this is a prime example of that.” One wrote, “Garbage!! Talking about the upcoming romantic-drama, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani follows the journey of Rocky Randhawa and Rani Chatterjee, who hail from contrasting family backgrounds. In order to get married they come up with a plan to stay with each others’ families so that they can get to know each other better. A Karan Johar directorial, the movie also stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi and many more in pivotal roles. It will be released on the big screens on July 28th.
