Inception star Ellen Page, now Elliot Page has come out as transgender. Filmmaker Apurva Asrani stands by Ellen's choice and says the star will now bring much needed attention to the trans community

Juno Star Ellen Page Comes Out As Transgender; Filmmaker Apurva Asrani Trashes Haters, 'It's None Of Our Business, It's His Body And His Soul'
Hollywood star Ellen Page who is better known for her roles in Juno, X Men, Inception and many more announced that he is a trans. Changing her name from Ellen to Elliot Page, he took to his Instagram account and shared a long note saying that he is a trans and that he is happy right now but also scared over a possible backlash. Page came out as gay in 2014 and then quickly become a flagbearer for Hollywood's LGBTQ community. However, having said that, the filmmaker Apurva Asrani stands by his choice of being a trans and says the star will now bring much needed attention to the trans community. 
 
Taking it to his Twitter handle, Apurva shared a few snaps with the actor and said that it is no one's business what Elliot chooses to be, as it is his body and his soul. He wrote, "It's none of our business what @TheElliotPage chooses to identifily as--it's his body & his soul. What is important is that an established Hollywood star will now bring much needed attention & a dignified discourse to the trans community. #ellenpage #elliotpage #Juno #xmen" After Apurva shared this on his handle, a user commented, "I was a fan of ellen page !!! now of elliot page. Love & respect." while another one wrote, "Couldn't have said it better!"
 
While announcing the same on Elliot's Insta page, he wrote, "I want to share with you that I am a trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To Be Here. To have arrived at this place in my life." 


He also expressed that he is scared as he wrote, "The truth is, despite feeling profoundly happy right now and knowing how much privilege I carry, I am also scared."
