Last night, the Indian government announced the decision of merging all the film associations under the umbrella organisation National Film Development Corporation (NDFC). This historic decision has opened to a great response by a lot of Bollywood personalities like Kangana Ranaut, filmmakers Priyadarshan/ Anil Sharma and musician Manoj Muntashir. Taking to their Twitter accounts, these celebrities hailed the government's decision by calling it 'historic' and 'wonderful'.

Kangana Ranaut's tweet read, "Convergence is the #NewNormal in M&E sector. @narendramodi govt's decision to merge NFAI, DFF, Films Division, CFSI & NFDC is a historic step & infuse enthusiasm. Wonderful decision, we look forward to working with the umbrella organisation. @PrakashJavdekar #MIBSynergy4Films." While music composer Manoj Muntashir wrote, "NFDC, NFAI, DFF, Films Division और CFSI का विलीनीकरण, @narendramodi जी की सरकार का अत्यंत सरहानीय निर्णय है। सूचना-प्रसारण मंत्री श्री @PrakashJavdekar जी अभिनंदन के पात्र है,  इससे फिल्म इंडस्ट्री में समन्वय और तालमेल बढ़ेगा #MIBSynergy4Films." Anil Kapoor, too, expressed his elation by writing, "I welcome the Govt’s decision to merge film media units of @MIB_India. These units have been the Champions of the Indian Film Industry. Their merger would bring efficiency and unleash new creative energies. @PrakashJavdekar @PIB_India."


Hungama director Priyadarshan wrote, "Modijis govt decision to merge NFAI, DFF, Films Division, CFSI & NFDC is a welcome decision . Film industry looks forward to working with the umbrella organisation. #MIBSynergy4Films  #OptimisingResourcesMIB." Anil Sharma, on the other hand, praised PM Modi by tweeting, "Great initiative .. v gd decision .. I hv great hopes .. thx @PMOIndia @narendramodi ji @PrakashJavdekar."


According to the I&B Ministry, the merger of the film associations' aim was to ‘bring promotion, production and preservation of all filmic content under one management, ensure balanced and focused development of Indian cinema in all genres, synergy in activities, savings to exchequer, and better and efficient utilization of infrastructure and manpower.’
