Kangana Ranaut Challenges Court Order, Rejecting Plea For Transfer Of Defamation Case By Javed Akhtar; Actress Moves To Sessions Court-Report
Kangana Ranaut has reportedly challenged a court order that denied Javed Akhtar's plea for a transfer of his defamation case
Well, it seems like Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar's ongoing fight on a defamation case is not going to die down anytime soon. For the unversed, back in November 2020, the lyricist and writer had filed the defamation case against Ranaut alleging that she made defamatory and baseless comments about him in a television interview. Last year, Javed had reportedly moved an application before a court for issuing a non-bailable warrant against Kangana.
Now, in the recent development, the actress has challenged the order of the Mumbai court dismissing her plea against film writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar. As per the latest media reports, Kangana has moved to a sessions court in Mumbai against a lower court that dismissed her plea to seek transfer of complaint against Akhtar. The application was filed on Monday.
This is not the first time that the Queen actress had challenged the rejection of her transfer petition. Earlier, she sought a transfer application from Andheri Magistrate to some other Magistrate. However, the CMM at Esplanade rejected the plea. The report added that now, Kangana has moved to the Dindoshi sessions court and filed a new plea under Section 408 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC) to transfer her cross-complaint to another competent magistrate before the sessions court.
The case will be heard by additional sessions of judge Shridhar Bhosle on January 27, 2022. Meanwhile, in his complaint, Javed Akhtar had claimed that Kangana Ranaut dragged his name unnecessary while referring to a 'coterie' existing in Bollywood, following actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death in June 2020.
