On the eighth day of Navratri, Durga Ashtami, the Manikarnika actress posted a picture of the mouth-watering Prasad prepared at her home. This day, the devotees worship Mahagauri- a form of Goddess Durga. The actress shared that she is fasting, with a picture of the prasad. In return, Ranaut got brutally trolled on Twitter.

Reacting to this, netizens expressed their fury. One user called Kangana “Anti-Hindu” and tweeted, “And First Rule of Navratri is Ban on Garlic and ONION Aur yeh Fast me Khaa Rahi Hai Anti Hindu” Another user asked, “Onions kon khata hai fast main?” Many social media users reacted to the post and questioned Kangana’s values.

Meanwhile, for the unversed, the netizens reacted in such a way because consuming onions or garlic is prohibited during the nine days of Navratri. As per traditions, on Durga Ashtami, the devotees begin their day by taking bath, wearing new clothes and praying to the goddess. After the Puja is performed, a traditional bhog of puri, halwa and black chana (black chickpeas) is offered to the goddess along with other items.
