Kangana Ranaut Sedition Case: Actor Says None Of Her Tweets Ever Incited Violence Or Caused Criminal Acts; Informs High Court Through Legal Counsel-REPORT
Bollywood actress, Kangana Ranaut has been hitting headlines for the past few months, for her controversial tweets. An FIR was filed against the actress and her sister Rangoli Chandel for spreading communal hatred between two religious groups via her social media tweets. According to the latest report, in the ongoing sedition case, Kangana Ranaut told Bombay High Court that none of her tweets incited violence or caused criminal acts. The actress has sought quashing of the FIR registered against her by Mumbai Police.

The Times of India reported that Kangana Ranaut’s told a bench of High Court judges that the actor did not commit any wrong through her tweets. The report stated that Ranaut’s lawyer, Rizwan Siddique said that the magistrate court had erred in allowing the registration of the FIR against the actress on sedition charges. Ranaut’s lawyer appealed to the HC to quash the order passed by the lower court.

On behalf of the Manikarnika actress, Siddique told the HC, “There is absolute non-application of mind in the (Bandra) court's order. Even the sections invoked against me do not constitute any offence. None of my tweets have invoked any reactions from the public. They will not attract punishment as they were not followed by violence. What happened after the tweet? Was there any criminal act after my tweets?"
