Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut got herself in a legal tussle for her critical remarks on social media. Not only the Manikarnika actress but also her sister Rangoli Chandel have been facing prosecution in three criminal cases in Mumbai in connection to their critical remarks on social media platforms. In a significant development, according to the latest report, Kangana Ranaut moved Supreme Court, seeking the transfer of three cases to court in Himachal Pradesh, including the one defamation suit filed by Javed Akhtar.
According to a report in Live Law, the petition filed by Kangana Ranaut’s lawyer revealed the reason behind the request for the transfer of cases to a court in Himachal Pradesh. The petition stated, “Petitioners face a threat unto life if the trials proceed in Mumbai, because of a personal vendetta of Shiv Sena leaders against the Petitioner"
As one of the cases among the three was the one filed by Javed Akhtar, in return, the veteran lyricist has now filed a caveat. A tweet made by the agency reported, “Veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar files a Caveat in the Supreme Court in actor Kangana Ranaut's transfer petition.”

For the unversed, Javed Akhtar had filed a criminal defamation complaint against Ranaut in November 2020 under sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code. The actress was summoned by the Mumbai court recently. However, after Kangana failed to appear in court, a bailable warrant was issued against her on Monday. The defamation case filed against Ranaut, by Akhtar was after her critical comments during an interview. Meanwhile, after she received a summon from the court, Kangana had taken to her Twitter to share her thoughts on the matter.
