Karan Johar walks out from a film for his blue-eyed boy Sidharth Malhotra

The casting crisis of Phantom films’ vigilante drama Bhavesh Joshi continues to plague the project. Spotboye has it that Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, which was to co-produce the venture, has opted out of the project.

Reason- Karan  will back the film if and only if his blue-eyed boy Sidharth Malhotra plays the title role.

To ensure this, director Vikmramaditya Motwane dropped Imran Khan overnight and promptly replaced him with Sidharth Malhotra, with Karan’s banner as co-producers. However, due to script issues- Motwane felt the story wasn’t relevant anymore- the project had to be shelved. Later, however, Motwane reached out to Harshvardhan with a reworked draft of the script and Anil Kapoor's son  came on board.

Meanwhile, Phantom Films is now talking to Eros International to step into Karan Johar's shoes.

So, does this mean the end of Karan Johar's dosti with Phantom Films? Not too long ago, Karan acted in Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet, and later produced Vikas Bahl's Shaandaar. Watch this space.
