Bollywood fans received the shock of their lives on Friday when Paresh Rawal confirmed that Kartik Aaryan would be a part of the third instalment of the Hera Pheri franchise. While an official confirmation about the Freddy actor replacing Akshay Kumar as Raju is yet to be made, speculations are rife that Akshay, who was looking forward to making Hera Pheri 3, Welcome 3, and Awara Paagal Deewana 3, has backed out of the projects because he didn’t agree with the scripts.

The fans have taken to Twitter to express their grief over the loss. They have taken it upon themselves to trend ‘NO AKSHAY NO HERA PHERI3’. Many went as far as to threaten Kartik with not doing the movie since the characters of Raju, Shyam, and Baburoa are tied to their emotions. One fan wrote, "This is not just a movie,they are not just characters, they are emotions since the childhood...... This should not be ruined." Another wrote, "Just heard that Kartik Aaryan is in `Hera Pheri 3’ Movie and got disappointed after hearing the news. Akshay Sir suits the best in the role of `RAJU’ instead of Kartik."

For the uninitiated, Aaryan replaced Kumar in Anees Bazmee's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, which went on to become one of the highest grossing movies of 2022. A few years earlier, the makers of Hera Pheri had announced the third instalment with Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal in the lead. Even after going on floors, the movie stalled midway for multiple reasons. With the recent developments, fans will undoubtedly be waiting for an official update on the same. On the work front, Kartik Aaryan is all set to entertain the audience with a spine-chilling thriller, Freddy. Alaya F, of Jawaani Jaaneman fame, also plays the lead role in the film. Produced by Balaji Telefilms, NH Studioz, and Northern Lights Films, Freddy will stream on Disney+ Hotstar from December 2, 2022.
