Filmmaker-producer Karan Johar announced a sequel to the 2008 comedy film Dostana starring John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Abhishek Bachchan back in June 2019. KJo went on to reveal the star cast of the film too. He announced Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor, and newcomer Lakshya Lalvani as the cast of Dostana 2. Later, the film went on floors in November 2019 in Punjab’s Amritsar. However, the shoot came to a standstill in March 2020 when the nationwide Coronavirus lockdown was imposed. After the restrictions were eased, the shoot of Dostana 2 was supposed to resume. But, there hasn’t been any development yet.
A source close to the project says, "Kartik Aaryan is likely to be replaced in Dostana 2 due to dates and script issue." As per the source, Kartik Aaryan who had already shot for 20 days is "unhappy with the script and is unable to allocate the desired dates for the shoot." The insider further reveals, the makers are not too happy and might decide to "go ahead with another actor."
The source also mentions that there are “creative differences” between Dharma Productions and Kartik Aaryan. Due to this, the production company would not like to "continue working with the actor in near future," says the source. "Kartik is known to be very friendly and forthcoming with all his female co-stars, this is also something that has been playing on the makers' minds." adds the source.
Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan has films Dhamaka and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 in his kitty, apart from Dostana 2. SpotboyE.com recently broke the news that Kartik’s film Dhamaka was sold to streaming platform Netflix for a whopping amount of Rs 135 Crore. Other than work, the actor made headlines recently when he posted a video of his new luxury car.
