Kartik Aaryan REACTS To Backlash Over ‘Women With Defects’ Comment: ‘I Didn’t Say That’
Kartik Aaryan recently faced social media fury after he was quoted saying in an interview that Ayushmann Khurrana does films about men with defects while he does films about women with defects. Now he has reacted to it and said he was reading out a meme and that wasn’t his comment
Kartik Aaryan was once again at the end of severe backlash and trolling on social media after a controversial comment he made in a recent interview. Last time Twitterati ripped him for his monologue about marital rape in the film Pati Patni Aur Who, and this time, he was quoted saying in an interview with Radio City that Ayushmann Khurrana does films about men with defects while he does films about women with defects. This did not go down well with Netizens and they were furious with his comment, and slammed him for the same.
Now, Kartik Aaryan has reacted to the backlash and has defended himself saying the comment was not his, he was instead reading out a meme. In an interview with Times Of India, Kartik Aaryan said, “Kai baar news reporting me itna gadbad hoti hai, usme cheeso ko cut short kar ke dikhate hain. We were discussing a meme where there were some things written and I too reacted on it by saying that I too have stumbled upon it. It was kind of funny to notice that thing. Kartik Aaryan further said that it was blown out of proportion and it was a light moment where he just read what was written, and did not comment on it. “I do not believe in such things and it was just a light moment. We just read what was written on it and not comment on it. We didn’t even talk about it, we just said what was written,” he said. Kartik is often criticized for being a part of films with misogynistic and sexist undertones- Pyaar Ka Punchnama, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.
