While Subhash Singh (make-up artiste-cum-producer) cooled his heels in his air-conditioned room yesterday, he suddenly got a call from Urvashi Rautela's manager Prashant. Considering it to be one of those professional calls that you get if you are working with an actor on a certain film, Subhash picked up the phone to be only lambasted by Prashant (Subhash has done Rautela's entire make-up so far for her upcoming film Virgin Bhanupriya, produced by Mahendra Dhariwal).
Buzz is, Prashant started off by saying that Subhash will
be required to report on the sets tomorrow.
Now, Subhash, it seems, was not in a position to comply.
Why? "Because the call came just a day prior to the shoot. Subhash had given his dates from April 25 to Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas (Karan Deol's debut). How could he shuffle?"
The next thing that Subhash did was to render a detailed
explanation to Prashant, regarding his unavailability. But Prashant was in no
mood to listen.
Sources say that Subhash got a big shock when Prashant went on to tell him that he should submit in writing or send them a voice recording that he himself was quitting the project and it was not their fault. Subhash refused to be intimidated, but was soon told that Urvashi would then go ahead with a make-up artiste other than him.
Buzz is, Urvashi might have hired Kalpesh, the guy who did her make-up in Hate Story 4.
We called the film's director Ajay Lohan, who dismissed off our tip-off and said, "Hamare yahan sab kuch theek chal raha hai. You are asking me wrong questions."
But Prashant overruled Ajay and confirmed that Subhash was no more a part of Virgin Bhanupriya. When told that we had heard that he had been very rude to Subhash, Prashant replied, "Look, this song which we are shooting at Madh now was originally supposed to be shot at Mauritius, then Goa, and now finally Mumbai- all due to budget constraints. But Subhash was supposed to do our entire film. He told me yesterday that he had to fly off to Hyderabad and I called for a snapshot of his ticket; I found that he had booked his ticket one month ago. Shouldn't he have given us some notice? And yes, you are right- I did tell him to give me in writing that he was quitting the film by choice. He said he could return only around May 5, but then there would have been continuity issues. And yes, you are also right when you say that we called Kalpesh to do the job, a girl called Salma has also been brought in."
Katrina Kaif With Subhash Singh
When contacted, Subhash said rather emphatically, "I shall never work with Urvashi Rautela again. Prashant spoke very rudely to me. Just not done. I am not here looking for any extra money, it's a case of self-respect. Urvashi is a nice girl and I liked working with her, but please note that I had no contract with them which would have bind me. Plus, they informed me barely 24 hours prior to the shoot, how could I adjust to their whims and fancies? FYI, I was working at half my actual fees for this film."
Subhash has worked with several Bollywood heroines like Shabana Azmi, Sridevi, Juhi Chawla, Katrina Kaif, Twinkle Khanna, Sushmita Sen, Kangana Ranaut, Bipasha Basu, Huma Qureshi, Nargis Fakhri, Mahak Chahal among others. Subhash worked with Sridevi on many magazine covers. As for Katrina and Jacqueline, Subhash has been almost a regular with her in most of their assignments. Subhash produced the Shabana Azmi-Juhi Chawla starrer Chalk n Duster and is now helming a Punjabi film Bol Na Mahi Bolna starring Gurdas Maan.
