Kerala Floods: Payal Rohatgi’s Shameful & Disgusting Stand On The Natural Calamity

If you have ever been tad free to browse through Payal Rohatgi’s Twitter timeline, a series of tweets condemning national issues, politicians, big celebrities must have surely caught your attention. Her recent tweets on Kerala floods are a shameful addition to her highly controversial timeline. Payal, in a series of tweets, has expressed that the Kerala floods are a result of the state not banning cow slaughter and that it is God’s way of punishing them.

Here’s what Payal wrote, “#cowslaughter is NOT banned in #kerala. Dear Kerala people and politicians of Kerala, not good to hurt the sentiments of #Hindus. If u openly do that, sorry to sound but God also openly does it...God is one but u can’t hurt religious faith like this.”

No brownie points to guess, that statement was condemned by many, and we can’t agree more with the resentment of netizens.  The comment is surely outright disgusting and impenitent. Justifying millions of people’s misery with thinking as shallow as that, was surely insensitive and uncalled for.

However, Payal didn’t stop at that. Her following tweet read, “ALL views are taken into consideration based on the success/failure graph of the humanbeing. Beta #karma is #karma. It won’t spare a #hindu or a #muslim. But YES u all hurt a certain sentiment openly then talk about belittling me #Respect the #faith of ALL religions.”

By this time Payal’s timeline was flooded with negative comments by users accusing her for passing an extremely inhuman comment. Payal still didn’t stop and fired her next tweet which read, “When A grade actors bring #religion in a #rape of a Indian girl it is OK and nationwide news. But if I (Ms PayalRohatgi) bring #religion (my beliefs) in the flood like situation of #kerala I am considered uneducated & called names due to my career graph. Slow claps.”

It is a diplomatic country we live in and social media platforms are open to point of views by one and all, but a public figure making such callous statements at a time when a part of the nation has been hit by a tragedy, is not the most intelligent thing to do.
