Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar has passed away at the age of 92 today. She breathed her last on Sunday morning at Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai. Mangeshkar, who was known as the ‘Queen of Melody’ and the ‘Nightingale of India,’ had tested positive for COVID-19 with mild symptoms on January 8 and was undergoing treatment at a city hospital. The news of her tragic demise has sent shockwaves across the country. Heartfelt tributes have been pouring in for Lata from all corners.

As soon as the news of Lata Mangeshkar's death broke out, social media is abuzz with fans and celebrities expressing sorrow and paying their last respects to the singer. Singer Kumar Sanu has also expressed his grief. Talking to a news channel, Kumar Sanu stated that he feels he has lost his mother. He was quoted as saying, “Lata ji nahin hain. Aisa lag raha hai ki Maa nahin hai.. (Lata ji is no more. It feels like my mother is not there)." He further stated that he has sung a lot of songs with her which became very popular and he got to learn a lot from her. Remembering the first recording with Lata Mangeshkar, he said, "First recording Naya Saawan, she sang standing next to me. I was scared and nervous. but she encouraged me. And then we sang a lot of songs.”


Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief on Lata Mangeshkar's death and tweeted, “I am anguished beyond words. The kind and caring Lata Didi has left us. She leaves a void in our nation that cannot be filled. The last rites of Lata Mangeshkar will take place at Shivaji Park.
