Late Rishi Kapoor brother Rajiv Kapoor is no more. He was 58. Neetu Kapoor made a post on her Instagram, mourning Chimpu Kapoor’s sad demise. The senior actress shared a picture of Chimpu Kapoor from a function. She shared the picture, confirmed the news and wrote, “RIP.” Late Rajiv Kapoor, who is popularly known as Chimpu Kapoor is the younger brother of Randhir Kapoor and late Rishi Kapoor. He was the uncle of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. Rajiv Kapoor worked in films during the 1980s.
Speaking with ETimes, Randhir Kapoor confirmed the sad news. He said, “I have lost my youngest brother, Rajiv. He is no more. The doctors tried their best but could not save him.” As per the report, Randhir Kapoor rushed him to Inlaks Hospital, a medical facility close to their residence in Chembur. Rajiv Kapoor suffered a massive cardiac arrest. He was declared dead on arrival by the doctors. Kareena’s dad added, "I am at the hospital, waiting for his body."
Chimpu Kapoor marked his Bollywood debut in 1983 in the film Ek Jaan Hain Hum. He played a pivotal role in the 1985 film Ram Teri Ganga Maili directed by Raj Kapoor. Rajiv Kapoor worked in several other films from the 1980 to 1990s until he turned to producing and directing. Kapoor worked in films like Aasmaan, Lover Boy, Zabardast, Hum To Chale Pardes and others. He was last seen in the 1990 film Zimmedaar.
During his career in the Hindi film industry, Rajiv Kapoor also directed his brothers Randhir Kapoor and late Rishi Kapoor. The news about Rajiv Kapoor’s demise comes months after Rishi Kapoor passed away in April, 2020. Chimpu Kapoor is survived by his wife Aarti Sabharwal. Meanwhile, back in 2018, Chimpu Kapoor was in the news for his comeback.
