Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday starrer Liger has already been released in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu, today, August 25, 2022, however, the Hindi version will release on Friday, August 26, 2022. The audience had great expectations from this pan-India film which sees the Telugu star as an MMA fighter. But, it seems that the could not entertain the audience.

In the southern belt, the shows were arranged as early as 4 AM, and people were excited to see the 33-year-old actor making his Bollywood debut with a bang, however when they came out of the theatre, they were not happy. Film’s trailer, teaser, and poster looked promising, which increased the expectations of the fans. 

Extensive film promotion to collaboration with influencers and going on multi-city tours hyped the film but it failed to get favourable reviews from the fans. Fans have appreciated Vijay’s body transformation but the story and the execution of the film didn’t appeal to the audience. Fans shared their experience and reviews on Twitter. 




One wrote, “#liger is definitely a bad movie. But what made its a unbearable torture film for me is the acting of #AnanyaPandey. Please avoid casting bollywood actress in telugu films @Charmmeofficial @purijagan @TheDeverakonda @PuriConnects”. And another one wrote, “In Liger, Vijay Deverakonda’s transformation is stunning, and he gives a committed performance. But it is a wasted opportunity. The narration is totally formulaic. Where’s the story?”

One user reviewed, “#LigerReview our rating 0/5 Positive- Car parking Time, Start Credits, Health Advices about smoking, Interval Gap, End Credits. Negative-Full Movie MEGA DISASTER #Liger #WaatLagaDenge.” and another one wrote, “Why not donate the amount of ticket, popcorn, parking, chips etc to some poor instead, and get darshan of #Liger in that needy person? Why waste your hard-earned money to fund lavish lives of nepo-kids?”

Amidst all this, one Twitter user has praised Vijay’s efforts. He wrote, “Tbh, Puri’s golden days are over. It's fine if his films are bad. But why take a star like VD and an actor like Ramya Krishna down with you? They are both so earnest in their performances, it breaks your heart to see them in a film that couldn’t care less. It's so wrong.”

Earlier during the interview with ANI, ‘Dear Comrade’ actor had mentioned that he has full faith in the film. He was quoted saying, “With Liger we expected a bit of drama...but we'll fight. We've put our heart into making this film. And I believe that I am correct. I feel that there is no room for fear, when I had nothing, I didn't fear, and now after having achieved something, I don't think there needs to be any fear even now. Maa ka aashirwaad hai, Logon ka pyaar hai, bhagwaan ka haath hai, andar aag hai, Kaun rokenge dekh lenge.”




Talking about the film is a sports drama with a stellar cast including Vijay, Ananya Panday, Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, and Mike Tyson apart from Vijay, and Ananya. This film also marks the Bollywood debut of Mike Tyson. The film is directed by Puri Jagannadh and produced by Karan Johar.
