Litter Controversy: Minister Backs Virat-Anushka; They Crave For Privacy, Not Publicity

On Saturday evening, Virat Kohli shared a video of wife Anushka Sharma, who was seen schooling a man, one Arhhan Singh, for littering a plastic bottle on the road.

Taking to social media, Virat shared the video with the caption, “Saw these people throwing garbage on the road and pulled them up rightfully. Travelling in a luxury car and brains gone for a toss. These people will keep our country clean? Yeah right!!! If you see something wrong happening like this, do the same and spread awareness. @anushkasharma (sic).”

The video evoked severe backlash from the litterer (Arhhan Singh) and his family, who took to social media to blast the couple, in rather elaborate posts.

Now, the Minister Of State For Home Affairs (Arunachal Pradesh) Kiren Rijiju has hit out at naysayers and critics of Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli.

"Come on, Virat and Anushka need publicity!! They would rather crave for privacy!! Our conduct reflects our mentality. Civic sense is social ethics and ethical behaviour doesn't come with wealth and education. Let's keep India clean. #SwachhBharat," he tweeted.

Yesterday, Arhhan took to Facebook to blast the star couple. Read his Facebook post below...

Arhhan's sister also blasted Virushka by commenting on the post and saying, "You call a small piece of plastic that flew out can be called garbage and the way you spoke to my brother isn't garbage? What fives you guys to talk down to people like this?! What kind of people are you? Shocked!!! Your fame doesn't give you the right to do this (sic)."
