Maha Shivratri 2020: Amitabh Bachchan, Raveena Tandon, Richa Chadha Wish Fans; Hrithik Roshan, Sussanne Khan Perform Puja
On the occasion of Maha Shivratri 2020, celebrities Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Raveena Tandon, Dhanush and others wish fans in the country, while Hrithik Roshan performs puja with his entire family in Panvel in honour of Lord Shiva
Today, on February 21, we celebrate one of the most important festivals of Maha Shivratri in the country in honour of Lord Shiva. Shivratri falls on every lunisolar month of the Hindu calendar, on the 13th night/14th day of the month, but once in a year in late winter and exactly before the arrival of summer. The festival of Maha Shivaratri which means the Great Night of Shiva marks the overcoming darkness and ignorance in the world when Lord Shiva performs the heavenly dance.
On the occasion of Maha Shivratri, devotees of Lord Shiva observe fasting, chanting of prayers, meditating, charity, and forgiveness, while many ardent ones stay away all night, whereas others visit one of Shiva temples or go on a pilgrimage to Jyotirlingams. As the festival is celebrated on a huge scale in the country, on Maha Shivratri, celebrities Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Raveena Tandon, Dhanush and others wish fans, while Hrithik Roshan performs puja with family in Panvel.
On Twitter, Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, “T 3447 - Maha Shiv Ratri ki badhai shubhkamanayein .. महा शिव रात्रि की अनेक अनेक बधाई ऐर शुभकामनाएँ.” Big B send out wishes to all his fans worldwide through his Twitter handle and shared a picture of him that read, “Har Har Mahadev.” Apart from Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Raveena Tandon, Richa Chadha, Isha Kopariker, and Dhanush also wished their fans on the occasion of Mahashivratri. While many celebrities took to their respective social media handles to wish fans on the festival of Maha Shivratri, Hrithik Roshan headed to his family temple in Panvel and performed a puja along with his family. In pictures shared on social media, the WAR actor is snapped performing a puja and is seen offering milk to a Jyotirlingam. Apart from Hrithik, ex-wife Suzzanne Khan, father Rakesh Roshan, sister Sunaina Roshan and kids Hridhaan Roshan and Hrehaan Roshan are also spotted at the family Lord Shiva temple offering prayers to the deity.
