Manoj Kumar: Sadhana Was One Heroine Without Any Nakhras
Manoj Kumar, 78, romanced the late Sadhana in three movies - Woh Kaun Thi (1964), Anita (1967) and Amaanat (1977). The duo's melancholic love track, the Lata Mangeshkar-crooned Lag Ja Gale, still gives goosebumps on hearing- and the legendary actor was deeply saddened when he learnt about the demise of his favourite co-star.

Speaking exclusively to 9xe.com, the Padma Shri winning actor, who was recently discharged from the hospital, said: "Sadhana's death has been very unfortunate. She was a wonderful human being. She was truly a genuine person in this industry."

He added that she was a delight to work with for everyone - directors, producers and actors. "She had a style of her own and she will be remembered for a long, long time. In the history of Indian cinema, if she wasn't the best, she wasn't less than anyone else either."

When we asked what he cherished the most about her, especially while filming Raj Khosla's noir Woh Kaun Thi, he said it was her and her family's hospitality that has stayed with him over the years. "Unke ghar pe itna achcha khaana khaaya, kya bataein (We had such great food at her place)."

"The best part about her was that she had no nakhras...and she was fit for any role...ye role, wo role, dancing role.... will miss her deeply," he signed off.
