Mithun Chakraborty breaks his silence on Nadav Lapid calling his film ‘The Kashmir Files’ vulgar and propaganda movie’
Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty for the first time has opened up about the criticism surrounding his film ‘The Kashmir Files.’ He reacted to jury Nadav Lapid calling Vivek Agnihotri’s directorial 'vulgar' and a 'propaganda' movie and said The Kashmir Files becoming eligible to be nominated for Oscars 2023 is an answer to all the critiques.’ Mithun even stated that he is feeling overwhelmed and great that his film has been shortlisted for the upcoming Oscars.
Speaking with Times Now, the Disco Dancer actor said, “It feels great that ‘Kashmir files’ has been shortlisted. It’s an answer to all the critiques. The jury who called the movie vulgar and propaganda has gotten the answer today. The people have liked the movie and that’s the response.” He added, “I will not give any controversial statements. It hurts when the movie isn’t allowed in certain theatres but gets shortlisted for Oscar. Mithun’s statement comes after the film made it to the list of eligible films for the Oscars 2023. Expressing his happiness over the same, actor Anupam Kher told ANI that ‘The Kashmir Files being shortlisted at the Oscars is an achievement in itself but it's too early to celebrate. He said even he is shortlisted for the Best Actor award and thus it's a humbling and amazing feeling.
It is pertinent to say not just The Kashmir Files, but many other Hindi and South Indian movies like Alia Bhatt-starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi, Rishab Shetty’s Kantara, and SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR featured in a list of 301 movies that are eligible to be nominated for the upcoming Oscars this year.
