The 21st International Indian Film Academy Awards was supposed to take place in Bhopal and Indore, Madhya Pradesh. IIFA is one of the most prestigious awards gala, and Bollywood desperately looks forward to it. However, owing to the outbreak of Coronavirus, the event had to be cancelled. Now, reportedly, the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Chouhan has transferred Rs 700 crore kept aside for the event to CM's Relief Fund in order to fight against Coronavirus.

As reported by Economic Times, Shivraj Chouhan-led Government has transferred the money allotted for the event by the previous Kamal Nath-led Government for the event. Reportedly, Kamal Nath wanted to use this event to promote the state in full glory. Kamal Nath reportedly wanted to use this opportunity to promote tourism in the state. Now, as per reports, during a video conference held to check the preparation work to tackle COVID-19 pandemic, Chouhan said, "The money which was allocated for the IIFA event will be transferred to the chief minister’s relief fund for COVID-19 assistance."

IIFA 2020 was supposed to be a three-day event and stars like Jacqueline Fernandez and Salman Khan had even visited the state to announce the event. Later, due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, the organisers announced on social media that the event has been postponed. "With due regard to the growing concerns around the spread of the #COVID19 virus and, after consulting the Madhya Pradesh government, it has been decided to postpone the event (originally scheduled at the end of March) to a later date," shared organisers on Twitter.
